Art of receiving....


There was a time when birthdays made me excited......nah...it made me nervous...not coz i was worried of getting a year older...it was coz i was scared of getting upset....actually horrified by what i find inside those gift wraps...I have been through my share of dejection on seeing various not so me kinda gifts...Its really sad when i have to open gifts like disgusting pair of earrings, books which i will neva read, muzic which i will neva lissen to, stupid key chains, clothes i would neva wear, photo frames, every grandma like purses..........ewwww!!
Its not like all of them got it wrong...i m lucky to have a few ones who would ask me what i would like or just by their instinct..or my luck...get me what i actually want...!
Wouldn't it b good for us n easier for them..if dey just asked u what u want?..or took u to buy stuff?? Or just gave u some money in hand??? Well...on second thought it might be a bad idea....as u might just know..how much they gonna spend on u!!!...or simply like take rs.1000....u r worth dis much dis yr...!!But still....asking is much better....if dey actually worried about u asking something expensive...i just don't get it....they might b knowing u enough to know that u wont just ask for a penthouse or something equally fatuous...!!If birthdays can be so much of trouble for me...i shudder to think of what all people receive on their wedding..i m sure..everyone gets stuck with at least 10 gifts they get on their wedding which they would have neva wanted.....Well such gifts do help in some charity or u can just gift it to someone elz?!...dis is my idea..i m sure many of us do dis...!!
Its not like only people who don't know you much make such mistakes of buying u stupid gifts...some of your closest companion can also make such blunders....Just like dis best friend of mine...got me once a really big bead chain with some ugly looking diamond on it....n dat too in green!!!.....well d only thing i could do den was smile n take it..!!
After going through these many yrs of accepting funny gifts..i finally mustered the courage to ask some of my close pals...that is it fine to ask for what i want instead of getting me surprises which i would neva like..!! Since dis agreement done..i m glad to open up gifts which i like...
As my birthday is coming up soon....i again wish dis year..my frnds get sensible n ask me abt what i want....so finally den i will excel in an art of receiving.........

It is Karva Chauth tomorrow and I see people all around shopping, applying hennas on hands and visiting beauty saloons and then it strikes me that I will never happen to be celebrating this beautiful tradition! Sigh! All my dreams since childhood gets shattered! I hate my boyfriend at such times! (obviously who is not a Punjabi!) Didn't half of the girls in their teens want to get married to a Punjabi? A little prayer!

As the day comes closer, the unknown fear creeps in again covering the windpipe, breathing in pain.. Remembering all the days I lazed and neglected to pray all mistakes I made which price I might need to pay! I look above in the sky, a tear dropping from the eye. A plea running trough my mind praying to God, to make it all right! Thinking of all the things, I did wrong, all that I could've been better at.. How I dont deserve it but how badly I need it..
